Bath Surface Maintenance

Surface Maintenance

1. How often should I apply wax to polished copper?

  • If you want to maintain the high shine of polished (unpatinated) copper and slow down the natural oxidation process, it is recommended to apply a special metal wax (e.g., Carnauba wax).
  • Frequency: Approximately every 4 to 6 weeks.

2. What should I do if limescale appears on the copper tub?

  • Be very careful—harsh limescale removers (containing strong acids) are FORBIDDEN for copper as they will damage the patina.
  • Solution: For mild limescale, use gentle, natural methods:
    1. Baking Soda Paste: Create a paste from baking soda and a little water. Apply to the affected area, gently scrub with a soft cloth or sponge.
    2. Prevention: The best method is prevention—wiping the tub dry after every use.

3. How does caring for hammered copper differ from smooth copper?

  • Care is essentially the same. Most hammered tubs already have a dark patina from the manufacturer (Antique/Hammered Copper). You do not need to use wax on a patinated tub.
  • The hammered texture helps to mask minor scratches and uneven colour changes, as the texture naturally blends any imperfections better than a smooth, polished surface.
